Three panes of the same thickness can sometimes be less effective than an acoustic double-glazed unit designed with laminated glass and an asymmetric construction. For homes near busy routes, the most useful conversation is about acoustic glass and window design, not just the number of panes.

The fitting is equally important. Sound can travel through small gaps around a frame, so accurate measuring, secure fixing and careful sealing are essential.
